Warranty period

Blank fields count as 0. Years and months keep the day of the month of the purchase; if that day does not exist (e.g. Jan 31 + 1 month), the last day of the month is used (Feb 28, or Feb 29 in leap years). Days are added after that.

Example: a 1-year warranty bought on April 1, 2024 ends on April 1, 2025 with the anniversary rule, or on March 31, 2025 with the day-before rule. Choose what your warranty card says.

FAQ

When does a 1-month warranty bought on January 31 end?

February has no 31st, so the last day of February (the 28th, or the 29th in leap years) is used. This is the same rule as the EDATE function in spreadsheets.

Should I choose the anniversary or the day before?

It depends on the wording of your warranty. “One year from the date of purchase” is interpreted differently by different makers, so if in doubt use the earlier date and check with the manufacturer.
