Period: Wed, Feb 28, 2024 – Fri, Mar 1, 2024

The start date is not counted: days from the next day through the end date.

One month runs from a date to the same date of the next month (or to that month’s last day if it has no such date, so Jan 31 to Feb 29 is one month). When both dates are included, months are counted up to the day after the end date.

How to use

  1. Enter the start and end dates. The "today" buttons fill in today’s date.
  2. Choose whether to exclude the start date (end − start) or to count both dates.
  3. The days, weeks and days, months and days, and years-months-days appear instantly.

FAQ

What is the difference between the two counting options?

Excluding the start date gives end − start, so Feb 28 to Mar 1, 2024 is 2 days. Counting both dates adds one: 3 days. Use the first for elapsed time and the second for things like the number of days of an event.

How are months counted?

A month runs from a date to the same date of the next month, or to that month’s last day if it has no such date (Jan 31 to Feb 29 is one month). The rest is shown in days. When both dates are counted, months are counted up to the day after the end date.

Can the end date be before the start date?

Yes. The dates are swapped automatically and a note is shown.

Notes & limitations

  • What you enter is processed only on this page and is not sent to YUCTS servers.
  • Public holidays and business days are not considered; every calendar day is counted.
  • Dates use the current Gregorian calendar, extended backwards before 1582, so they differ from Julian calendar dates.
  • Times of day and time zones are not handled; the calculation works with whole dates.
