Deposits are made at the end of every month and earn the annual rate ÷ 12, compounded monthly. Your current savings earn the same rate.

The monthly amount is rounded up to the smallest unit so the goal is reached. The weekly figure is the monthly amount × 12 ÷ 52, rounded up.

How to use

  1. Enter your savings goal and how much you have already saved.
  2. Set the deadline as a number of months or a target date and, if you like, an assumed annual return (leave 0 for an ordinary savings account).
  3. See the amount to save each month, a weekly figure, total deposits and the projected balance at the deadline, and copy the summary.

FAQ

What happens with a 0% return?

Interest is ignored: the monthly amount is (goal − already saved) ÷ months, rounded up.

How are months counted for a target date?

Only whole months from today to the target date count. The remaining days short of a full month are left out and shown in the result.

Is a result with a return guaranteed?

No. It assumes the return stays the same for the whole period. Real rates and returns change and can be negative. It is not investment advice.
