  • You arrive on the same local date as you depart.
  • Clocks at the arrival airport are 14 h behind the departure airport.
The local arrival time is earlier than the local departure time because of the time difference; the actual flight time is 13 h 30 min. This happens, for example, when flying east across the International Date Line.

How to use

  1. Enter the departure date and time from your ticket and the departure time zone.
  2. Enter the local arrival date and time and the arrival time zone.
  3. The flight time, total minutes, time difference and arrival day appear. Times skipped or repeated by daylight saving changes are flagged.

FAQ

Why does my flight land before it took off?

On eastbound flights across the International Date Line (for example Tokyo to Honolulu), clocks at the destination are far behind, so the local arrival time can be earlier than the local departure time. The tool converts both to universal time before taking the difference.

Is daylight saving time taken into account?

Yes. The offset in force at each date and time comes from the IANA time zone data in your browser. Times that are skipped or occur twice at a changeover are flagged.

Notes & limitations

  • What you enter is processed only on this page and is not sent to YUCTS servers.
  • Offsets and daylight saving rules come from your browser’s time zone data; future rule changes may not be reflected.
  • The result is the difference between the times you enter; it does not reflect delays or actual operations. With layovers it is the total travel time.
