FAQ

What is the difference between "With time zones" and "Converted to UTC"?

With time zones, each event is written in local time with its time zone name (TZID), and the time zone definition (VTIMEZONE) is included. Converted to UTC writes every time in Coordinated Universal Time. Both describe the same moments, and calendar apps show them in your device’s time zone.

What happens to times that do not exist or occur twice because of daylight saving time?

As RFC 5545 specifies, a time skipped when daylight saving time starts is treated as the time after the change, and a time that occurs twice when it ends means the first occurrence. Such events show a note in the list.

Are notes with commas and line breaks exported correctly?

Yes. Backslashes, semicolons, commas and line breaks are escaped as required for TEXT values in RFC 5545. Long lines are folded every 75 octets without splitting a character such as an emoji.

Where are my events stored?

Only in this browser on this device (IndexedDB); nothing is sent to a server, and the ICS file is created in the browser. Use "Delete saved data" to remove them at any time.

Notes & limitations

  • What you enter is processed only on this page and is not sent to YUCTS servers.
  • Recurring events, reminders (alarms) and invitations are not supported.
  • Time zone and daylight saving rules come from your browser’s data (the IANA time zone database). Rule changes made after you export are not reflected in the file.
  • How imported events are shown depends on the calendar app. If times with time zones look wrong, choose "Converted to UTC".
  • Up to 200 events, with dates from 1970 to 2100.
