Image Redaction (blur, pixelate or black out parts of an image)

Hide faces, addresses or numbers in photos and screenshots with a solid fill, pixelation or blur. The exported image is re-encoded without GPS or other metadata, all inside your browser.

  • Runs in your browser (no upload)

Up to 40 MB per file

How to use

  1. Choose or drop an image file.
  2. Drag on the image to mark each area to hide (with a keyboard, enter coordinates and press "Add area").
  3. Pick how to hide it (solid fill, pixelate or blur) and a file format, then press "Download processed image".

FAQ

Which method is safest?

A solid fill replaces the original pixels completely and cannot be undone. Pixelation with small blocks can sometimes be guessed, and blur is the weakest. Use a solid fill for anything important.

Is my image uploaded?

No. Loading, editing and exporting all happen in this browser; the image is never sent to a server.

What happens to GPS location and other metadata?

The exported image is rebuilt from pixels, so EXIF, GPS and XMP metadata are not included. Before downloading, the tool reads the exported file back to verify this.

Does it work on phones?

Yes. Drag with your finger to mark an area, and fine-tune it with the coordinate fields.

Notes & limitations

  • What you enter is processed only on this page and is not sent to YUCTS servers.
  • Blur and pixelation can sometimes be guessed or partly reversed. Use a solid fill to hide information reliably.
  • Very large images are scaled down to stay within browser limits (about 16 megapixels).
  • HEIC/HEIF files are not supported. For animated GIFs only the first frame is processed.
  • Colour profiles (ICC) are not kept, so colours may shift slightly.
