Working Hours Calculator (breaks and overnight shifts)

Calculate hours worked from start and end times minus breaks. Handles overnight shifts such as 22:00–06:00, totals several shifts and exports a CSV.

  • Runs in your browser (no upload)
  1. Shift 1

    Work 8 h (span 9 h, break 1 h)

  2. Shift 2

    Work 7 h (span 8 h, break 1 h)Overnight (ends 06:00 the next day)

If the end time is earlier than the start time, the shift is treated as ending the next day (22:00–06:00 is 8 hours). Work time = end − start − break.

FAQ

How is a 22:00–06:00 night shift calculated?

The end time is earlier than the start, so the shift ends at 06:00 the next day: 8 hours on shift minus the break (7 hours with a 60-minute break).

What are decimal hours?

Hours written as a decimal number for payroll, e.g. 7 h 30 min = 7.50 hours. When the value does not divide evenly (7 h 20 min = 7.333… hours) it is rounded half up to 2 decimals and marked with "≈".

Does it calculate overtime or night premiums?

No. Because the tool does not know when the break was taken, it does not split hours into overtime, night or holiday work or calculate premiums. It totals work time, breaks and time on shift.

Notes & limitations

  • What you enter is processed only on this page and is not sent to YUCTS servers.
  • Overtime, night work, holiday work and pay premiums are not calculated. Check your pay against your employer’s rules and the applicable law.
  • Each shift must be shorter than 24 hours; a shift with the same start and end time cannot be entered.
  • On days when daylight saving time starts or ends, the real elapsed time can differ by one hour.
  • Entries are not saved and return to the example when the page is reloaded. Download the CSV to keep them.
