Random Name Picker (fair draw from a list)

Paste a list of names and draw winners fairly with a cryptographically secure random generator. Remove duplicates, pick several at once, exclude past winners and copy the draw history. Nothing leaves your browser.

  • Runs in your browser (no upload)

You can paste a column from a spreadsheet. Blank lines are ignored.

Differences in letter case, full-width/half-width characters and surrounding spaces are treated as the same name.
When this is off, every draw uses the whole list (a single draw never picks the same line twice).

Press "Draw" and the winners will appear here.

Winners are picked with your browser's cryptographically secure random generator (crypto.getRandomValues) using an unbiased method.

How to use

  1. Enter one name per line, or paste a column from a spreadsheet.
  2. Choose whether to remove duplicates and exclude winners, and enter how many people to pick per draw.
  3. Press "Draw" to see the winners. You can copy the result or the whole draw history.

FAQ

Is the draw really fair?

It uses your browser's crypto.getRandomValues (a cryptographically secure random generator) with a method that avoids modulo bias. Everyone still available has the same chance, and a draw of several people never picks the same entry twice.

What happens when everyone has won?

With "Exclude winners" on, the draw stops once everyone on the list has won and tells you so — nobody is drawn twice. Press "Clear history" to start over.

What if I keep duplicates?

Each line then counts as one ticket. A name listed twice can win up to twice even when winners are excluded, which is useful when entries should carry different weights.

Is my list saved anywhere?

No. The list and the history are processed only on this page; they are not sent to a server or stored in the browser, and they disappear when you close the page.

Notes & limitations

  • What you enter is processed only on this page and is not sent to YUCTS servers.
  • The list and the draw history are not saved. Reloading or closing the page clears them, so copy any result you need to keep.
  • Up to 10,000 lines, 100 characters per name and 1,000 people per draw.
  • Duplicate detection only normalizes letter case, character width and spaces. Different spellings or nicknames of the same person count as different names.
