Make a Solid-Color Background Transparent (PNG)

Pick the color of a plain background such as white or a green screen, adjust tolerance and edge smoothness, and get a PNG where pixels close to that color are transparent. Color matching only, not AI cutout.

  • Runs in your browser (no upload)
This is not AI background removal and does not recognise subjects. It only makes pixels close to the chosen color transparent, so it works best on images with a plain background such as white or a green screen.

Up to 40 MB per file

How to use

  1. Choose or drag and drop an image. The most common color along the edges is picked automatically.
  2. If needed, click the preview to pick another color or type it as HEX.
  3. Adjust the tolerance, edge smoothness and area (only connected to the edge, or the whole image) and check the preview.
  4. Press "Download transparent PNG".

FAQ

Can it cut out people or products with AI?

No. The tool does not recognise subjects. It makes pixels transparent only by how close they are to the chosen color, so it works best with plain backgrounds and subjects that do not share that color.

White parts inside my subject disappear too.

Choose "Only areas connected to the image edge": the same color that is not connected to the background (white clothes, eyes) is kept. If it still disappears, lower the tolerance.

The edges are jagged or tinted with the background color.

Raise "Edge smoothness" to make edges semi-transparent, and turn on "Reduce background color fringes" to subtract the background color left on the edges.

Is my image uploaded?

No. Matching, making pixels transparent and saving all happen in your browser.

Notes & limitations

  • What you enter is processed only on this page and is not sent to YUCTS servers.
  • This is not AI subject recognition (automatic cutout). Because only color closeness is used, subjects with colors similar to the background, gradients, shadows and photographic backgrounds cannot be separated well.
  • Color closeness is measured as a distance in RGB, which does not exactly match perceived differences.
  • Output is PNG only, to keep transparency. JPEG compression noise can leave colored pixels along edges.
  • Images above the browser limit (about 16 million pixels) are scaled down when loaded. Formats the browser cannot open, such as HEIC/HEIF, are not supported.
