Forum and Community Announcement Formatter (text, Markdown, BBCode)

Enter a title, date, message, links and contact to get the announcement as plain text, Markdown and BBCode, ready to copy. Each format is escaped correctly and only http/https links are accepted.

  • Runs in your browser (no upload)

Date and time are optional.

Line breaks are kept (up to 3000 characters).

Write a description before the URL, e.g. "Details https://…". Only http:// and https:// URLs are allowed (up to 5 lines).

Output

For e-mail, chat and anywhere without formatting.

For GitHub, Discord and forums that support Markdown. Symbols are escaped, so nothing turns into an unintended heading or link.

For forums such as phpBB or XenForo. Square brackets [ ] in your text become full-width [ ] so they can never form a tag.

How to use

  1. Enter the label, title, date and time (optional), message, links and contact.
  2. Plain text, Markdown and BBCode versions are created instantly.
  3. Press the copy button for the format your forum or app uses and paste it.

FAQ

Can my text contain *, # or [b]?

Yes. Markdown output escapes them with backslashes and BBCode output turns [ ] into full-width [ ], so they show as typed instead of becoming bold text or tags.

What happens to javascript: links?

They are rejected. Only http:// and https:// URLs are accepted, and URLs containing a user name or password are refused too.

Is anything I type sent to a server?

No. All formatting happens in your browser and nothing is stored or sent.

Notes & limitations

  • What you enter is processed only on this page and is not sent to YUCTS servers.
  • BBCode differs between forum software, so only basic tags such as [b], [url] and [list] are used.
  • Markdown line breaks use two trailing spaces; how they display depends on the Markdown flavour of the site.
  • In the BBCode version, [ ] in your text appear as full-width [ ].
  • Invisible control characters (such as text-direction overrides) are removed and counted.
