FAQ
Why can’t I choose or hear a voice?
Voices are provided by your operating system and browser. If there are none, add a speech voice in your system settings, and check the volume and mute settings.
Is my text sent anywhere?
Not to this site’s servers. However, voices marked “online” are synthesized by a speech service of the browser or system vendor, so the text is sent over the network. By default only on-device voices are used.
Notes & limitations
- What you enter is processed only on this page and is not sent to YUCTS servers.
- The available voices, their quality and languages depend on the operating system and browser; some devices have no voices at all.
- How speed, pitch and volume work differs between voices, and some settings may not be applied exactly.
- Some browsers stop long texts partway through (the specification allows a limit of 32,767 characters).
- Saving the speech as an audio file (such as MP3) is not supported.
