FAQ

Is my recording sent anywhere?

No. Recordings live only in this page’s memory and disappear when you close it unless you download them.

It says the microphone cannot be used.

The browser’s site settings may block the microphone. Allow it from the icon in the address bar (the “aA” menu in iPhone Safari).

Which format is used?

You can choose among the formats your browser can record. M4A (AAC) plays on most devices; Firefox records WebM or Ogg (Opus).

Notes & limitations

  • What you enter is processed only on this page and is not sent to YUCTS servers.
  • Formats are limited to what the browser’s recorder (MediaRecorder) supports; MP3 and WAV are not available.
  • Each recording is limited to 60 minutes. On phones, turning off the screen or switching apps may stop recording.
  • Sound quality depends on the microphone and the browser’s processing. Recordings are lost when the page is closed unless downloaded.
