FAQ

Why does fast mode start a little earlier?

Video can only be decoded starting from a key frame, so a cut without re-encoding begins at the key frame just before your start time. Use precise mode if that matters.

Does the quality drop?

Fast mode copies the video stream, so quality is unchanged. Precise mode re-encodes, which can change it slightly.

Is my video uploaded?

No. Everything runs inside your browser and the file never leaves your device.

Notes & limitations

  • What you enter is processed only on this page and is not sent to YUCTS servers.
  • In fast mode the start snaps to key frames (often every 0.5–2 seconds in phone videos). The end is cut per frame, audio per few tens of milliseconds.
  • Precise mode re-encodes with the browser’s WebCodecs; it is unavailable for browsers or codecs without support (for example HEVC in some browsers).
  • Reads MP4, MOV, WebM, MKV and MPEG-TS (saved as MP4), up to 1 GB per file. Large videos may run out of memory on phones.
