FAQ

How do I make the GIF smaller?

Use a shorter range, a smaller width, a lower frame rate or fewer colors. Busy or photographic footage produces larger GIFs.

Does the GIF include sound?

No. GIF cannot store audio, so only the picture is kept.

Is my video uploaded?

No. Reading frames and building the GIF both happen inside your browser.

Notes & limitations

  • What you enter is processed only on this page and is not sent to YUCTS servers.
  • GIF allows at most 256 colors per frame, so photographic footage and gradients show banding (no dithering is applied).
  • Up to 15 seconds and 300 frames. If frames × pixels get too large, the frame rate and then the width are lowered automatically.
  • Frames are read with the browser’s WebCodecs, so unsupported browsers or codecs (for example HEVC in some browsers) cannot be used. GIF playback speed can differ slightly between browsers and apps.
