Text to PDF (with embedded Japanese and Chinese fonts)
Create a PDF from a title and text. Japanese, Chinese and Vietnamese use free Noto fonts (SIL OFL) embedded as subsets, so text never turns into boxes. Pick paper, margins, font size, spacing and page numbers.
- Runs in your browser (no upload)
Printed larger and bold at the top of the first page; also used as the PDF document title.
Line breaks are kept; a blank line starts a new paragraph. (218 characters, 7 lines)
The title is 1.6 times this size.
1.5–1.8 is comfortable to read.
Automatic uses the standard font for basic Latin text, the Japanese font when the text has kana, the Simplified Chinese font when it has simplified-only characters, otherwise the font for the page language, and adds another font for characters the first one lacks.
Fonts for this text
- Standard font (Helvetica): not embedded; PDF readers show it with an equivalent font (no download).
Line breaking: Japanese and Chinese punctuation (、 。), closing brackets (」 )), small kana and the long vowel mark never start a line — they move to the next line together with the previous character — and opening brackets never end a line. English text breaks between words; only a word longer than the line is split.
How to use
- Enter an optional title and the text. Line breaks are kept and a blank line starts a new paragraph.
- Choose the paper size, orientation, margins, font size, line spacing and page numbers. Leave the font on "Automatic" to get a font that fits the text.
- Press "Create PDF". The needed fonts are downloaded the first time; the new PDF is re-opened and checked, then the preview and the download button appear.
FAQ
Will the characters come out garbled?
Japanese, Chinese, Vietnamese and similar text uses Noto fonts embedded in the PDF with only the characters you use. After creating the file, the tool re-opens it, checks that the text of every page reads back exactly as entered and that the embedded glyphs are identical to the original fonts, and only then offers the download. Basic Latin text uses the PDF standard font Helvetica.
Can I use emoji?
No. Emoji and scripts the bundled fonts do not have (Korean, Thai, Arabic and others) are listed before you create the PDF, and you choose whether to replace them with "?" or leave them out.
How large are the font downloads?
About 5.4 MB for Japanese, 6.8 MB for Traditional Chinese, 10.1 MB for Simplified Chinese and 0.5 MB for Latin scripts such as Vietnamese. Only the fonts the text needs are loaded, once per visit. Mind your data plan on mobile networks.
Can I use it for business documents?
Yes. The Noto fonts are licensed under the SIL Open Font License 1.1, which allows embedding them in documents, including commercial ones.
Is my text sent anywhere?
No. The PDF is created in your browser and your text never leaves it. Only the font files are downloaded from this site.
Notes & limitations
- What you enter is processed only on this page and is not sent to YUCTS servers.
- The fonts are Noto Sans (Latin, Vietnamese and more), Noto Sans JP, Noto Sans TC and Noto Sans SC in the regular weight only; the title is made bolder by stroking the outlines.
- Emoji, Korean syllables, Thai, Arabic, Hebrew, Indic scripts and similar cannot be shown (they are replaced with "?" or left out).
- Basic horizontal layout only: no vertical writing, ruby, bold or italic words, tables, images, hyphenation or justification.
- Line breaking follows basic rules only: punctuation, closing brackets, small kana and the long vowel mark never start a line, and opening brackets never end one.
- Characters that share one glyph in a font (for example 〜 and ~) both copy out of the PDF as one of them.
- The first use downloads large font files (up to about 10 MB each, around 16 MB when two are needed).
- Up to 200,000 characters of text and 500 pages per PDF.
