EV Charging Cost Calculator
Estimate the cost of charging an electric car from the battery capacity and charge levels (or kWh to add), charging efficiency and electricity price. Supports per-kWh or per-minute billing, fixed and parking fees.
- Runs in your browser (no upload)
The share of the billed energy that actually ends up in the battery. Losses (mostly heat) in the charger, cable and car keep it below 100%. The exact value is rarely known, so treat it as an assumption.
Connection or service fee. Blank counts as 0.

Result
- Energy charge: 40 kWh × 0.30/kWh = 12.00
- Real cost per kWh in the battery: 0.3333
- Assuming 90% efficiency: putting 36 kWh into the battery takes 40 kWh of electricity, including 4 kWh of losses.
How to use
- Enter the battery capacity and the charge level before and after (%), or enter the kWh to add directly.
- Enter a charging efficiency as an assumption, choose whether charging is billed per kWh or per minute, and enter the price.
- Add any fixed or parking fee — the billed energy, the losses, the cost breakdown and the total appear instantly.
FAQ
What is charging efficiency?
The share of the billed energy (what the charger delivers) that actually ends up in the battery. At 90% efficiency, putting 36 kWh into the battery is billed as 40 kWh.
Does efficiency change the cost with per-minute billing?
No. With per-minute billing the cost is time × price per minute, so efficiency only affects the billed energy and the implied average power shown.
Does the tool know electricity prices?
No. Prices vary a lot between contracts and charging networks, so enter the values from your own price list. The numbers shown first are only examples.
Notes & limitations
- What you enter is processed only on this page and is not sent to YUCTS servers.
- An estimate from the values you enter. Prices are not live prices or official tariffs.
- The charging efficiency is an assumption. Real losses depend on the charger type, temperature, battery condition and charging speed.
- Time-of-use rates, monthly standing charges and other detailed tariff rules are not included.
